
Dr. Yanglong Hou is a Changjiang Chair Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at Peking University (PKU), Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry. He received his M. S. degree (in Applied Chemistry) in 1998 and Ph.D. degree (in Materials Science) in 2000, respectively, from Harbin Institute of Technology. He accepted a postdoctoral fellowship from Peking University, and two years later became JSPS foreign special researcher at the University of Tokyo and postdoctoral research associate at Brown University. In December 2007, Dr. Hou jointed College of Engineering at PKU, where he was appointed as tenure-track Professor. Dr Hou’s current research focuses on the design and chemical synthesis of functional nanoparticles and graphene, and their biomedical and energy-related applications. Dr. Hou has co-authored over 140 refereed journal papers, 40 conference and invited presentations, 1 book, 6 book chapters, and held about 11 issued/applied patents. Dr. Hou is an adjunct Professor of Harbin Institute of Technology, Xiamen University, China. He has received several international and national awards, including JSPS fellow in 2003, Outstanding Young Investigator of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) in 2011, the CCS-RSC Young Chemist Award in 2013, etc. Professor Hou is currently an associate editor of Rare Metals, an Editorial Board Member of several international journals including Advanced Science (Wiley) and Scientific Reports (Nature Publishing Group), etc.
